Godzilla Minus Zero Rated R

Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, has been rated R for “strong/bloody violence.” Bloody Disgusting reports it’s the first R rating in the franchise’s 72-year history.

The rating signals a darker, more violent direction than its predecessor, which was rated PG-13. Director Takashi Yamazaki returns, along with stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe. The film is set in 1949 and was shot with IMAX-certified cameras for IMAX presentation.

Godzilla Minus Zero opens in North America on November 6, 2026, through GKIDS.
