4 New Horrors To Watch This Weekend

Weekend of: September 18, 2026

A few new things landed this week if you’re looking for something to watch. Here’s what’s new in theaters and streaming.

Resident Evil (in theaters now)

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot hit theaters today. It follows a medical courier named Bryan making a delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital when a viral outbreak breaks out around him. It’s set on the edges of the outbreak from Resident Evil 2, in an alternate timeline. Early tracking has it heading for one of the franchise’s biggest opening weekends, and Variety has the box office numbers.

Goody Goody (Shudder)

Also out today: a new Shudder original about a home birth gone very wrong. An expecting mother insists on delivering in a remote cabin with her midwife, and when labor turns strange and a blizzard traps them inside, something supernatural starts closing in. Written and directed by Raymond Creamer. Gizmodo has a full review.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (Netflix)

The fourth season of Netflix’s Monster anthology dropped this week, this time centered on the infamous 1892 axe murders. Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden, a repressed daughter in a cruel Victorian household who becomes the nation’s most notorious murder suspect. Reviews are mixed but have made it one of Netflix’s most talked-about launches this month — The Hollywood Reporter has a full review.

City of Blood (Hulu)

This German import premiered on Hulu this week. It’s set in a future Berlin split between a climate-controlled dome for the privileged and a crime-ridden, heat-ravaged city outside it. Two sisters, separated for years, reunite and discover vampires are quietly seizing political power, with blood becoming the city’s new currency. Laughing Place has more on the series.
