Holy Boy Trailer Hits Shudder

Shudder has a trailer for The Holy Boy, the Italian folk horror film from A Classic Horror Story co-director Paolo Strippoli. Dread Central has the clip ahead of the film’s November 27 premiere on Shudder and AMC+.

The story follows Sergio, a teacher with a painful past, who is transferred to Remis, a secluded village known as the happiest town in Italy. He soon learns the villagers gather every week to hug Matteo, a withdrawn 15 year old whose touch can absorb pain and grief. When Sergio uncovers how the town is exploiting the boy and tries to free him, the villagers turn on him.

Michele Riondino plays Sergio and Giulio Feltri plays Matteo, with Paolo Pierobon, Romana Maggiora Vergano, Sergio Romano, Anna Bellato, Sandra Toffolatti and Roberto Citran rounding out the cast. Strippoli wrote the script with Jacopo Del Giudice and Milo Tissone. The film played the Venice Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival before Shudder picked it up.
