Kane Parsons To Direct Backrooms 2

Kane Parsons is officially directing Backrooms 2 for A24. Dread Central broke the news that Parsons, who created the original Backrooms as a short film before turning it into a feature, is locked in to helm the sequel.

Osgood Perkins is staying on as producer. He mentored Parsons through the first film’s script, and he’ll be in his corner again for the follow-up.

Parsons has said before that Backrooms was always meant to be the start of something bigger, not a single stand-alone story. This sequel is his chance to build out that wider world instead of just repeating the first film.

The original Backrooms was made for around $57,000 and went on to earn a huge amount of money relative to that budget. That return is a big part of why A24 is moving fast on a second film.

No release date or plot details have been announced yet. We’ll update this post as more comes out.
