David Bruckner Will Direct Smile 3

David Bruckner is set to direct Smile 3 for Paramount, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Parker Finn, who created the series and directed the first two movies, is stepping back to produce.

Nick Antosca is writing the script, working from a story framework Finn put together. Finn is producing for Temple Hill Entertainment, and Jonathan Fass is an executive producer.

Finn is busy with his remake of the 1981 cult film Possession, starring Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley. Paramount plans to release it in June 2027.

Bruckner has a long horror track record. He worked on the anthology films V/H/S and Southbound, then directed The Night House in 2021 and the Hellraiser reboot for Hulu in 2022. He also has a remake of The Blob at Warner Bros. and The Caretaker, starring Sydney Sweeney, at Universal in the works.

The first Smile made $217 million worldwide in 2022, and Smile 2 brought in $138 million in 2024. No cast or release date has been announced for Smile 3 yet.
