Exorcist: Martyrs Trailer Finally Drops
The full trailer is out for Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist: Martyrs, and Bloody Disgusting says it plays more like a serial-killer investigation than straight possession horror.
Scarlett Johansson plays NYPD detective Julie Miller, who caught a satanic serial killer named Father Sunday thirteen years earlier. A new killer starts writing her name in blood at crime scenes, pulling her back into the case. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays a former prison chaplain who heard Sunday’s last confession, and Sasha Calle plays a rookie detective working the case alongside Miller. John Leguizamo plays Father Sunday, with Diane Lane and Jacobi Jupe rounding out the cast.
The trailer ties the killings to a string of real and fictional serial killers, stretching from H.H. Holmes to the Zodiac. Flanagan has said the film isn’t a remake of the original Exorcist, but a new story set within that universe.
The Exorcist: Martyrs opens in theaters March 12, 2027.
