Neon Signs Horror YouTuber’s Debut
Neon and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are backing a feature debut from Spencer Lackey, a viral horror YouTuber. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news as an exclusive.
Lackey didn’t come up through the usual pipeline of festivals and short films. He built his audience making horror content online, and now two of the biggest names in genre film are behind his first feature.
The movie is called “Lust.” No plot details have come out yet — just the pairing of Lackey with Neon and Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Both companies have strong track records backing original, distinctive horror, so their involvement is a real signal of confidence in his work.
This deal fits a pattern studios have been leaning into lately: going straight to creators who already have built-in audiences on YouTube and TikTok, rather than waiting for them to come up through traditional routes. If “Lust” works, it could open the door for more creators to make that same jump.
We’ll have more on “Lust” as casting, plot details, and a release window get announced. For now, the story is simply that the deal is real and it has serious backing.
