The Mummy 4 Starts Filming Today
Brendan Fraser started filming The Mummy 4 today, and Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, and the rest of the original cast are back too. Here's what we know so far.
Today’s the day. Brendan Fraser is officially back on set for The Mummy 4, and if you’re a millennial who wore out a VHS copy of the original, you already know why this is a big deal.
Fraser broke the news himself at the Deauville American Film Festival, telling Canal+ he had “to be at work on Monday morning” (relatable). And he’s not the only one suiting back up. Rachel Weisz returns as Evelyn for the first time since 2001’s The Mummy Returns, joined by John Hannah as Jonathan, Oded Fehr as Ardeth, Kevin J. O’Connor as Beni, and Arnold Vosloo back as Imhotep. Radio Silence (the directing duo behind Ready or Not and the latest Scream movies) is running the show this time around.

For those of us who grew up on the 1999 original, this one hits different. The Mummy has spent the last few years getting rediscovered online as one of the more quietly queer-coded blockbusters of that whole era, adventure movie on the surface, low-key bisexual awakening underneath for a lot of us. There’s a reason “Brendan Fraser’s vest” has its own corner of the internet.
After everything Fraser has been through the last few years, watching him get another shot at the role that made him a star feels like more than nostalgia. This is his second bite at the apple, and we are so here for it.
The Mummy 4 hits theaters October 15, 2027, moved up from its original May 2028 release date.
