Crystal Lake Boss Teases Jason Reveal

“Crystal Lake” showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has weighed in on a viral fan theory about Jason Voorhees, shooting down some of the wilder guesses before the Peacock prequel series premieres next month.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Kane addressed the speculation in an Instagram post, ruling out theories that Jason is secretly a government super soldier or an “Eleven”-style test subject. “It’s not the CIA. He’s not a gov’t super soldier or an Eleven,” he wrote.

Kane hinted instead that Jason could be something closer to a “Chud” or a “Trog,” without confirming either. He kept the door open for more, adding that “all will be known Oct. 15,” the date Crystal Lake premieres on Peacock.

The series is a prequel to the original Friday the 13th, following Pamela Voorhees in the year after her son Jason’s drowning as two strangers start digging into her past.
