Kate Beckinsale Leads Romero’s Final Zombie Film
Kate Beckinsale has joined Twilight of the Dead, the zombie film George Romero conceived before his death in 2017. JoBlo reports that Beckinsale replaces Milla Jovovich, who departed the project after it went through changes in cast, director and financing.
Doron and Yoav Paz, the directing duo known as the Paz Brothers, have taken over from Brad Anderson. Greg Nicotero, the special effects veteran behind The Walking Dead, is handling practical effects on the film.
The project is said to have wrapped production in Kentucky, with Betty Gabriel, Abigail London and John D. Hickman rounding out the cast. Gabriel starred in Get Out, and this marks newcomer London’s first major horror role.
Twilight of the Dead is the zombie chapter Romero was developing before he died, nearly six decades after he made Night of the Living Dead. No release date has been announced yet.
